అపుడే ఎండలు దంచేస్తున్నాయి.
మొన్న రేయి చంద్ర వాళ్ళ మిద్దెమీద పడుకున్నాము, ఎంత హాయిగా వుంది!!
పిట్టగోడ లేదు కదా!! ఈ దరి పంట చేల మీదుగా, పిల్ల కాలవలోని చల్లదనాన్ని మోసుకొచ్చే కొంటె చిరుగాలి తూర్పు వేపున్న వేపచెట్టు ఎండు కొమ్మల్ని గలగలలాడిస్తోంది. మత్తునిద్రలో వున్నానేమో!! నీ మువ్వల సవ్వడులే అనుకోని, ఉలిక్కిపడి లేచాను.
మెల్లగా మొదలైన కొంటెగాలి జోరు పెంచి, చల్లని మత్తులో ముంచేస్తుంది.

ఎందుకో నువ్వు గుర్తొచ్చావ్, లేచి మిద్దె చివరకెళ్ళి కూర్చున్నాను.
దూరంగా మంచెపైన ముచ్చటైన జంట ముద్దు,ముచ్చట్లు లీలగా వినపడ్డాయి.

"ఎంకి నా ఎంకి,వయ్యారమొలికించు నా యెంకి, వనలచ్చిమనిపించు నా యెంకి" దూరంగా ఎవరో "పెప్సి" తాగి పాడుకుంటూ పోతున్నాడు.

"ఎంకి నా ఎంకి వలపు చూపుల తురుపు నా ఎంకి,
వెచ్చని కౌగిలిల నెచ్చెలి నా ఎంకి, దోర పెదవుల లేత లత నా ఎంకి"
నా వెర్రి పాండిత్యానికి నవ్వు ముంచుకొచ్చింది.

నీకు గుర్తుందా, వినాయకమయ్య పండక్కి పట్టుపరికిణిలో వచ్చిన నిన్ను కళ్ళప్పగించి చూస్తుంటే, నవ్వు పువ్వులు జల్లున కురిపించావ్! చంద్ర వాళ్ళక్క ఎంతో ఇష్టపడి నాటిన బొండు మల్లెమొగ్గలు నవ్వుతూ నావేపు చూస్తుంటే, అప్పటి నీ నవ్వే గుర్తొచ్చింది.

ఎందుకో ఏమో ఒక్కసారిగా వర్షం మొదలైంది. కాదు కాదు , వుండు వుండు ఇదేంటి ముత్యాలు!! చక్కని చుక్కలు జల్లులుగా కురుస్తున్నట్లు ఒకటే ముత్యాలు, నీ నవ్వుల మెరుపులు పోలిన ముత్యాలు, కాదు కాదు నువ్వు నవ్వినపుడు గాలిలో కరిగి నింగి కెగసిన నీ నోటి తుప్పరలు.

దోసిలి సరిపోయేట్లు లేదు, వడిలో నింపుకుంటున్నాను..గుండె నిండా, తడి ఆరకుండా .
అందరు కిందకి వెళుతూ" జోరు వడగళ్ళ వాన, రా రా కిందకి పోదాం" అన్న మాటలు లీలగా వినపడుతున్నాయి.
ఈ రేయి ఇలాగే గడిచిపోని!!
